Preschoolers and obesity

Another excellent post by Fooducate...
These are four startling findings.
1. 10% of preschoolers age 2-5 are obese.
2. Eating habits are established as young as 12-24 months, and unfortunately toddlers are getting a bad start.
3. By age 4, calories from sweets account for three times more than calories from fruits and vegetables.
4.  One third of their daily calories come from snacks between meals. Unfortunately, cookies, candy and crackers are the snacks most consumed.
Help your kids by waiting until Halloween to purchase the candy that has already been on the store shelves for over a month now. Try your own experiment this year. Fill two bowls for trick-or-treaters, one with small toys and the other with traditional candy. See which is more popular.
