{pilates}

Developed in the early 20th century by German-born Joseph Pilates, Pilates is a unique form of exercise that combines strength, endurance, flexibility, and coordination. Pilates can be done on various equipment such as the reformer, chair, trapeze, and barrel or on a mat or barre. Pilates is for all and is a great addition to any exercise regime. There are hundreds of exercises that keep your body and mind excited and strong. Most individuals practice Pilates 2-3 times per week.

While I had done numerous mat Pilates classes, my first Pilates equipment class was about 3 months after reconstructive knee surgery. I immediately fell in love with Pilates, not only as a strengthening exercise, but as a method of physical therapy. Pilates really helped to strengthen and rehab my knee and surrounding muscles. I have continued to take Pilates for nearly three years. I began the process to become a Certified Pilates Instructor in January of this year and it has been an amazing learning experience!

If you would like to try Pilates, your first class is FREE!

I have a Balanced Body Studio Reformer and Centerline Chair in my home.
