I did it, my first 10K. I felt good for 5 miles, running all of them. I walked through the aid station at mile 5. I needed some sugar, but didn't have any. My legs were heavy, my stomach felt hollow. I just wanted to walk. Every time I started to walk someone would cheer. It was awesome. I saw the finish line and I kept going. Oh man, I wanted to walk. I don't know if I have ever pushed myself more. I crossed it. I felt like I was going to pass out when I stopped to have them cut off my chip. I walked through and grabbed a warm water bottle and I chugged it. I grabbed a handful of orange slices and sucked the juice out of them. Then I headed for the bus to take me back to my car.
I am not the fastest runner and that's ok. Running fast doesn't mean you are more healthy. I did this for me and I did it alone. I registered alone, I trained alone, I drove alone, and I ran alone. It has been a good thing. I have 3 weeks until my half-marthaon and I am SO nervous! Wish me luck.
Way to go!! I thought that after I did a 5k that a 10k wouldn't be much different but it really is a killer!! haha!! Good Luck on the half marathon!!
