This information comes from one of my favorite blogs, Fooducate. They have a really cool app for the grocery store that looks absolutely AMAZING. I am the only person in the world who doesn't have an iPhone, otherwise I would tell you about it.
The picture from the previous post is in fact chicken. Not real chicken. I guess the technically correct answer would be "none of the above." It is mechanically separated chicken. "Ew, gross" is the proper response. Many brands of chicken nuggets use this "ingredient". Additionally, if you have hot dogs in your fridge read the label, chances are mechanically separated meat is one of the first ingredients. Being that we are in the midst "hot dog season" do your best to make "the best of the wurst" by:
First, limiting your intake
Purchase organic dogs, or those made with no nitrites
Use a 100% whole grain bun
Use fresh toppings like tomatoes, cucumber, and onions
*The clever way of saying, "make the best of the wurst" came from the current issue of Eating Well Magazine
