Product Review: WhoNu

“WhoNu cookies are an excellent source of Calcium, Iron, Vitamins A, B12, C, D and E. They also have three grams of fiber and a total of 20 essential vitamins and minerals.”
WhoNu cookies also state the following:
As much fiber as a bowl of oatmeal
As much calcium and vitamin D as 8 oz of milk
As much vitamin C as a cup of blueberries
As much iron as a cup of spinach
As much vitamin E as two cups of carrot juice
As much B12 as a cup of cottage cheese and fruit
As much vitamin A as 8 oz of tomato juice

Boy, looks like we never have to eat anything else again. It sounds nice doesn’t it, a healthy cookie that gives us all the nutrition we need. Truthfully, these cookies are just fortified Oreos (or Chips Ahoy, depending on which kind you get).

Let’s compare:

Bottom line: These cookies are far from healthy. You would be better off eating oatmeal, spinach, blueberries, milk, etc and then eating an Oreo for dessert. Better yet, bake your own cookies they taste better. I have no issue with treats; I do have an issue with companies trying to make us believe that a treat can replace real whole food. It can’t. Ever.
