Today is my daughter's first birthday. We got her a kitchen. I remember my first kitchen, I found my passion at that young age. I remember preparing cakes, soups, and bread for my parents. My three year old also loves to cook and helps me any chance he gets. Letting your children help in the cooking process is one of the best ways to get them to try new foods. It's also pretty good for your self esteem when they start to mimic you. My baby girl climbed up her little stool at her new toy kitchen and started banging a spoon around the pot. Then, she looked on the ground and saw her baby doll. She climbed down the stool, picked up her baby, climbed back up and resumed cooking while holding her baby. I frequently cook while I hold her in my arm. Precious!
Letting them play with pretend food is also great. Not just play cakes and cookies, but play fruits and vegetables too. Just like these ones...
My new friend sent me her vegetable set to try out. My kids love it. We play name that vegetable (like what is a chayote?) and my little boy gets busy in his kitchen cooking "yummy" dishes for me. Everything is adorable. I especially love the tropical fruit set, the La Taqueria, and the green salad! I need to buy more!
I will be hosting a giveaway here when we get 200 followers, so get your friends to follow Bite Rite and tell me that you did. I will consider each new follower in the giveaway!
Leave a comment telling me which set you would want to get!
Hi Devrie, I just became a follower of your blog, so count me in on the giveaway. I would love the salad set for my daughter.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy glancing at your blog every week. Thanks for all the tips. I am interested in including more organic food in my family's diet. We don't have a ton to spend, so I want to start by buying the most important organic foods. Do you have some tips? You may have already done several posts on this, if so, can you link me to them. Thanks again for your expertise!
