When to go organic...

My orgainc priorty list:

1. Milk

2. Eggs (because I typically eat more eggs than meat/chicken)

3. Meat and Chicken

4. Produce

For this post, lets focus on produce.

For the most part here is a general rule of thumb, if you don't want to spend too much time thinking. Produce that has a skin that you can peel off, like a banana is less important to buy organic. Produce with a thin skin like peaches are more important to purchase orgainc. This is likely due to the fact that the pesticides can't penetrate as deep into the flesh of produce if the skin is thick verus if the skin is thin.

The Dirty Dozen:
These fruits and veggies have the highest levels of pesticide residue, this is where you should spend your money.

Peaches
Apples
Sweet Bell Peppers
Celery
Nectarines
Strawberries
Cherries
Pears
Grapes (Imported)
Spinach
Lettuce
Potatoes
